Newly Created Role Will Focus on Overall Growth for J. Walter Thompson Company
NEW YORK, NY (March 19, 2015) — Gustavo Martinez, Chief Executive Officer of J. Walter Thompson Company, announced today the appointment of Lyle Tick in the newly created role of Chief Growth Officer. In this role, Tick will report to Gustavo Martinez, and will be responsible for driving growth and leveraging the existing network of regional new business leads.

Tick, 39, joins J. Walter Thompson Company from Bacardi, the world’s largest privately held spirits company, where he spent three years, first as Senior Global Category Director, Vodkas, and most recently as VP Category Director, North America Vodkas. At Bacardi, Tick led both the development of the global strategy for GREY GOOSE® vodka and then the North American implementation of the GREY GOOSE strategy. Tick’s responsibilities included all marketing communication, innovation, trade advocacy and activation strategy for the Vodka brands.

Prior to joining Bacardi, Tick was Co-President of Gotham Inc., where he was responsible for overall agency profit and loss, quarterly and yearly planning, and setting short- and long-term strategy for the agency. While at Gotham, Tick also worked with “Arrested Development” stars Jason Bateman and Will Arnett on their award-winning content series, “Always Open,” for Denny’s.
Additionally, Tick has worked at agencies including McGarryBowen, MVBMS, DDB Worldwide and JWG Advertising on brands including InBev, Reebok, Verizon and Intel, among others. He is a “Global Citizen,” having lived and worked in the United States, the United Kingdom and Africa.
In 2005, he was voted by AdAge as one of the 20 visionaries in advertising and marketing under the age of 30, and he has also been recognized and awarded for his work by Cannes Lions, Clios, Effies, The One Show, HSMAI, AME and the Jay Chiat Awards.
Tick will assume his new role in late April, 2015.
