BEIRUT’S THE GOOD NOTE MOST AWARDED CAMPAIGN IN MENA ACROSS NEW YORK FESTIVALS AND D&AD AWARDS LAST WEEK
BEIRUT, LEBANON (23 May 2016) – J. Walter Thompson Cairo was awarded a prestigious Graphite Pencil in the Craft for Design category at the D&AD Awards last week, for its Nefertari typeface, part of the Downtown Fonts campaign for Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Development. The most awarded campaign by any agency in the Middle East and North Africa across the D&AD and New York Festivals was The Good Note, which landed four 2nd prizes at the New York Festivals in the Public Services Announcement, and Public & Media Relations categories; and 3rd prize in the Best Use of Media category. At the D&AD awards, The Good Note was recognized with a Wood Pencil in the PR/Social Responsibility category.
Downtown Fonts – also known as Khotout West el Balad - is a beautifully executed campaign, helping restore the classical grandeur of Downtown Cairo by preserving the typographical heritage of hand-painted calligraphy, once used for shop and street signs.
The Good Note is an integrated campaign for Bou Khalil Supermarket, creating an alternative form of currency that offers people in Lebanon a way to give to people on the streets again, with trust, knowing their donations would be used for only good things.
J. Walter Thompson Dubai was also awarded a Wood Pencil for Global Transfer for HSBC in the Art Direction category at the D&AD Awards.
The New York Festivals is an international award competition recognizing the world’s best advertising. The D&AD awards celebrate and nurture outstanding work in the design and advertising industries. Awards for both shows were announced on 19 May 2016.
J. Walter Thompson Cairo, Beirut, and Dubai are part of the J. Walter Thompson MENA network, crowned Network of the Year at the Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity earlier in the year, by scooping an unprecedented five Grand Prix awards, 12 Gold, 16 Silver, and 10 Bronze.
